Focus and Scope
SMARTH: Journal of Mathematics Education and Learning publishes scholarly works focusing on research, development, and innovation in mathematics education. The journal welcomes manuscripts that address, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- Mathematical Abilities and Thinking Processes: Mathematical representation, mathematical problem solving, conceptual and procedural understanding, mathematical reasoning, communication, and dispositions.
- Didactics, Pedagogy, and Instructional Design: Mathematics didactics and pedagogy, design and innovation in mathematics learning, student-centered, adaptive, and differentiated instruction, STEM education and ethnomathematics integration, innovative classroom action research (CAR) in mathematics education.
- Media, Technology, and Digital Transformation: Technology-based media and learning materials, e-learning, mobile learning, blended learning, digital and interactive learning models, applications, simulations, and AI for mathematics education.
- Assessment, Measurement, and Evaluation: Development of assessment instruments, evaluation of mathematics learning outcomes, authentic and competency-based assessments.
- Curriculum and Teacher Professionalism: Development and analysis of mathematics curricula, studies on content knowledge (CK) and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), teacher professional development and enhancement of instructional quality.
- Ethnomathematics and Cultural Contexts: Integration of cultural values in mathematics education, studies on geometry, patterns, and cultural practices, context-based and culturally responsive learning materials.
- Contemporary Issues and Interdisciplinary Studies: Inclusive mathematics education, literacy and numeracy in global contexts, pedagogical innovations in the era of Society 5.0, adaptive and differentiated learning approaches.
