Publication Ethics

SMARTH: Journal of Mathematics Education and Learning is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing by adhering to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher are required to follow the ethical responsibilities outlined below.

 

Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Submit original manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere and are not under consideration by another journal.
  • Ensure that the work is free from plagiarism and that data is presented honestly and transparently.
  • Cite all sources accurately and in accordance with academic standards.
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Clearly state each author’s contribution to the manuscript.
  • Take full responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and validity of the content.

Editors’ Responsibilities

  • Make editorial decisions fairly, objectively, and based on scholarly merit.
  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts and the identities of authors and reviewers during the review process.
  • Ensure a transparent, timely, and unbiased review process that is free from conflicts of interest.
  • Refrain from using unpublished manuscript content for personal gain or the benefit of others.

Reviewers’ Responsibilities

  • Provide fair, objective, and constructive evaluations aligned with their expertise.
  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscript content and avoid using it for personal purposes.
  • Deliver reviews promptly and offer helpful feedback to improve the manuscript.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest and decline to review when such conflicts exist.

Publisher’s Responsibilities

  • Ensure the integrity of the entire editorial and publication process.
  • Handle allegations of ethical misconduct transparently and professionally.
  • Uphold COPE’s ethical guidelines to maintain high ethical standards throughout all stages of publication.
